§ Questions we get asked in Kingston upon Thames

Common questions from Kingston customers.

Do you cover Surbiton and Norbiton as well as Kingston town centre?

Yes — we cover the full KT1 and KT2 postcodes including Kingston town centre, Canbury, Norbiton, Cambridge Road, Coombe Hill and Kingston Hill. We also cover Surbiton. There is no call-out charge anywhere in the area and free home visits are available including evenings and weekends.

My Victorian terrace in Canbury has a suspended timber ground floor — what preparation do you do before fitting?

We re-nail or screw any loose boards, punch protruding fixings below the surface, fill large gaps and install a ply overlay across the full area before fitting. This gives a flat, stable base suitable for LVT, engineered wood or carpet. All preparation is included in the fixed price we give you on the free home visit.

My 1930s detached on Coombe Hill Road has original parquet in the reception rooms — can you work around it?

We assess the parquet at the visit. If blocks are sound and well-bonded, we can ply over them and fit engineered oak or LVT on top. If the parquet is lifting or the adhesive has degraded, we lift it, grind back the residue, level the screed and start fresh. We price both scenarios clearly on the day so you can choose.

My riverside apartment near Kingston Bridge has wet underfloor heating — which flooring do you recommend?

For riverside apartments with wet UFH in screed we recommend glue-down LVT or engineered oak with a documented manufacturer UFH approval certificate. We confirm the system type and maximum operating surface temperature before specifying, and record compatibility in writing. Floating click-lock or standard laminate products are not suitable above wet UFH.

My 1950s post-war flat in Norbiton has a solid concrete floor — can you fit LVT directly onto it?

Yes. We test the concrete for moisture and check levels at the visit. If moisture readings are within tolerance, we self-level any low points and glue the LVT direct to the slab. If moisture is elevated, we apply a surface DPM first. All preparation is included in the fixed price.
